For the rapper N.O.R.E., see N.O.R.E..The Nore is a sandbank at the mouth of the River Thames, England. From 1732 the sandbank was marked by the Nore lightship, the first lightship in the world, placed here as an experiment by Mr Hamblin, its patentee. The early Nore lightships were small wooden ships, often Dutch-built galliots.
